Alex Harrison
I’m Dr Alexander Harrison, a health services researcher and lead analyst specialising in cardiac rehabilitation. I work at Arden & GEM CSU on the National Audit of Cardiac Rehabilitation, where I help turn complex NHS data into clear insights that support policy, commissioning, and service improvement across England.
My background spans more than a decade of applied research and national audit work, including roles at the University of York, where I completed my PhD in Health Sciences and contributed to national reporting, guideline development, and postgraduate supervision. I’ve authored over 50 publications, presented widely, and supported programmes that have helped drive investment and improvements in cardiac rehabilitation services.
My core interests include cardiovascular prevention, health inequalities, and making large-scale observational data genuinely useful to clinicians, commissioners, and patients. Methodologically, my work focuses on multivariable analysis, audit and evaluation, and pragmatic research to inform real-world decision‑making.
I’m an ONS‑accredited researcher, a regular contributor to national conferences, and continue to collaborate across NHS England, academia, and clinical networks to support evidence‑based service development.
